I am just expressing an opinion - I know that The Book is a long ways away, but it probably has the highest concentration of classic climbs. Anyway, you all like hiking (although its still not that far away and it is well traveled), climbing and adventure - you should be saying the farther away the better. Being one of the taller features, The Book offers some of the best views at the top. Imagine yourself sitting on the top of this.

Thanks Dylan, Mark, and esp Matt!! Yeah, it's a wild and beautiful place. I've always wanted to climb there more, but keep having similar experiences to this one. Maybe next time will be better.

And Matt, what are you referring to on the Owls exactly? Have you had similar epics in the area? Dish! :) I'll probably track you down at work and decipher the code that way.

I love the new design on your page. That being said...

Welcome to Lumpy - easy to get off route, dirty, gritty, bottomed out cracks, wide cracks, no cracks (yikes!)...don't give up on her though. There is some of the best climbing in Colorado here. And you and Mark are particularly suited to this place with your bizarre love of Vedawoo. Try Osiris for adventure (although it might be a little too intense for a Kate lead) - features are straight forward to follow (look for giant cracks, dihedrals and the fang itself). Or, if you want a nice easy one, try White Whale - superfun and mellow. And the others are similar.

But don't get freaked that you had trouble with Lumpy - it's tough out there. A couple more times and you all will be pros...

Lumpy is so tough. After we entered the trees we immediately lost track of which rock we were standing at the base of, as well as whether it was a minor feature (100 feet high) or a major one (700+). I was sure we were going to get ledged out because we were on some random un-named lower formation.
